What is a Research Study?
The development of a new drug requires several years of research and a variety of tests to demonstrate its safety and effectiveness.
Clinical studies in humans are one of the final stages of this process. Clinical studies conducted by South Medical Center, Inc. generally aim to assess the body’s extent of absorption and elimination of study drugs. To do this, we enroll more than 5,000 volunteers annually. Their role is crucial, since no drug can be marketed without their contribution. Study participants receive compensation payments for any inconveniences associated with their participation.
